Yoga builds our inner strength as well as our outer strength by building a strong Body and Mind. Strong muscles and bones protect us from conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis and back pain. When you build strength in yoga you balance it out with flexibility. Strong muscle do more than look good, they improve posture, balance and alignment. Yoga helps you strengthen your mind by improving your focus during your practice as well as during meditation. Yoga helps you make changes in your life by improving your self esteem, self worth, balance of the mind and body, coordination and helps you focus and concentrate. When you attend your first yoga class you might not be able to touch your toes. As you attend more classes you will notice a loosening in the body and will start feeling more flexible and resilient in the body as well as the mind. You'll find aches and pains start to disappear. Tight hamstrings can lead to lower back pain. Inflexibility leads to poor posture - YOGA stretches out the entire body relieving the body as well as the mind from stress. The weight bearing postures in yoga helps strengthen the bones preventing osteoporosis. Lymph drainage is improved and helps the lymphatic system to fight infection. Studies have found that yoga improves cardiovascular conditioning. Yoga lowers the heart rate, blood pressure, increases endurance and intake of oxygen. Yoga regulates the adrenal glands by lowering cortisol levels thus reducing stress and tension. Yoga lowers blood sugar levels and balances hormones. Yoga helps you feel healthier, makes you feel happier, less stressed, helps you sleep better. Yoga takes you to the present moment, the only place that life exists.


PRANAYAMA
All our classes include Pranayama.
Breath, Life, Energy ( prana ) are intrinsically connected.
Pranayama  - consciously breathing our bodies  - utilizing our breath to expand, enhance the flow of energy within the Mind/Body to release blockages , increase vitality, improve mental focus and health, calm the mind and body and expand consciousness. The breath acts as a bridge to the nervous system and by exploring pranayama we can observe how deeply it is connected to the mind. Our breathing alters depending on our mood and state of mind. Our psychological state can be altered by changing our breath. Breath is the most essential part of our daily lives and influences the activity of every cell in our bodies as well as the performance of our brain.
Conscious breathing brings energy and oxygen to the cells thus enhancing the cellular process.
Most people breath incorrectly. The breath is generally shallow depriving the body of vital energy and oxygen thereby disrupting the rhythms of the brain and causing physical, emotional and mental blockages. The practice of Pranayama corrects the breathing patterns and brings awareness to controlling our breath thereby promoting Deep, Slow, Rhythmic respiration - Relaxed Rhythms of the Body and the Mind.
